What does PHMA do?

PHMA finances programs, literature, videos, research, and other activities which, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, will enhance the proper use of protective helmets and lead to a better understanding of head injury in non-motorized sports. The membership provides a unified voice in matters of importance to the industry, including appropriate review and evaluation of products of standards-making and legislative bodies, and sharing of information to strengthen the industry and enhance the performance of protective headgear.

Who can join PHMA?

Full membership in PHMA is limited to manufacturers of protective headgear for non-motorized sports who satisfy the membership requirements, submit a completed application form with application fee and dues payment, and are approved by the Membership Committee. Other interested parties, such as component manufacturers and products distributors, may apply for Associate Membership, with no voting rights. Application forms with criteria for membership are included in the membership packet. Please contact Dean Fisher to obtain the packet at deanbell23@aol.com.

What are the benefits of membership in PHMA?

All members benefit from PHMA activities through improved education of the public, increased headgear use, and standardized approaches to certain generic attributes of helmets. PHMA members are encouraged to provide input for the general use of PHMA funds by recommending certain projects that they feel would advance the mission of the Association. PHMA allows its members an increased likelihood of controlling the destiny of their industry, by direct sharing of industry information.
